No other community members or officers were injured in this incident. The CSPD officers apprehended the suspect, rendered aid, and he was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. At one point in this encounter with the suspect, at least one CSPD Officer fired at least one round striking the suspect. A taser was used and was found to be ineffective. The officers gave verbal commands, which the suspect refused to comply with. The officers conduct a search and located the suspect hiding in the home. When CSPD officers arrived on the scene, they conducted an investigation and it was discovered that the suspect may still be hiding in the home. On March 12, 2023, at approximately 5:34 PM, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) Communications Center received reports of a Domestic Disturbance at a home in the 1000 Block of North Foote Avenue. Both parties where arrested and booked into CJC. the Pete's sustained minor injuries and there were no injuries to officers. He was quickly apprehended by Tac Team Officer Kuhl. The driver of the stolen Hyundai SUV, 19-year-old Damien Pete, exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. She was apprehended shortly after by MVT detectives. The KIA sedan travelled a short distance before Katrina Pete stopped and attempted to run-on foot. The KIA caused significant damage to both the Tac Team vehicle and the KIA sedan. While arriving in the area, the driver of the KIA sedan, 42-year-old Katrina Pete, observed officers and rammed one of the Tac Team vehicles to escape. Detectives contacted TEU Tac Teams for assistance in contacting the stolen vehicles. The stolen vehicles, a Hyundai SUV and a KIA sedan, were both running, and each had someone in the driver’s seat. On 03-13-2023 at approximately 1:00pm, detectives with the Metro Vice Narcotics and Intelligence Motor Vehicle Theft Unit (MVT) located two stolen vehicles in the 300 block of Universal Heights. This is an ongoing investigation, and the subjects name is not being released at this time. The subject sustained minor injuries to his left arm and was transported to the hospital where he was treated and released into the custody of detectives. Canine Milo took the subject to the ground thus preventing a violent fugitive from escaping into a residential area. Officer Comstock released Canine Milo, who was able to apprehend the subject just prior to the fence. The subject continued to flee towards the privacy fence, ignoring officer’s commands. Officer Comstock gave several warnings for the subject to stop or a canine would be released. Officer Comstock noticed that the subject was going to be able to get over a privacy fence and into the yard of a residence before detectives would be able to stop him. CSPD Canine Officer Comstock and his Police Canine Milo arrived on scene and observed the subject running from detectives. Detectives gave numerous commands for the subject to stop running but he refused to stop. Upon contact, the subject ran from detectives for approximately 300 yards, through a construction area and commercial property, towards residences to the east. Detectives had information that the subject was still possession of a firearm that was allegedly used in the Felony Menacing incident and attempted to contact him near Jet Wing Drive and Warthog Heights. On 03-14-2023, at approximately 3:30pm, detectives with the District of Colorado Violent Offender Task Force located an adult male with multiple felony warrants, to include a Domestic Violence Burglary and a Domestic Violence Felony Menacing Arrest Warrant which was issued in September of 2022.
